Streaming bitrate and gear price index

What bitrate and what budget does a streaming setup actually need?
A live stream needs roughly 3,000 kbps for 720p30, 6,000 kbps for 1080p60, and 20,000 kbps for 4K60 in H.264, and your upload has to exceed that by about 43% to stay stable. Platform caps then decide whether you can use it: Twitch standard plans around 6,000 kbps, which cannot carry 1440p, while YouTube allows 24,000. On price, the index below covers 1,114 priced parts across 17 gear categories.

Twitch Enhanced Broadcasting is listed separately from Twitch standard because the difference is the whole reason 1440p is possible there. Whatnot publishes no ingest cap at all, so its row is our planning estimate rather than a spec, and it is marked as one.

Medians, not averages, so a single broadcast-tier item does not distort a category. Prices are tracked estimates rather than a live feed, last observed 2026-08-26. 33 items currently sit at least 10% below their own tracked average, listed on deals.
