Our take on the Astro A40 TR

The Astro A40 TR is a closed-back gaming headset with a swappable boom mic, suited to streamers who want a headset for PS4 and PC. The mic can sit on either side.

The mic is uni-directional, which helps it pick your voice over the room. Ear cushions are synthetic leather and noise cancelling, and a padded headband spreads the weight. Magnetic Speaker Tags let you personalize the look. Impedance is 48 ohm. Retailers rate it 4.4 across 3,661 ratings. That matters on stream because a mic that stays off to one side keeps the boom out of your face cam.

Pros
  • Swappable boom mic
  • Padded headband and synthetic leather cushions
  • Magnetic Speaker Tags to personalize
Cons
  • Model listed for PS4 and PC
  • Mod kit is sold separately
