Live selling in the US consolidated hard over the last two years: Flip burned through a billion-dollar valuation and shut down, NTWRK folded into Complex Shop, and the buyers went to a handful of winners. Here is where those winners stand in July 2026, from a seller’s point of view.
| Platform | Fees | Getting in | OBS / real cameras | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Whatnot | 8% + 2.9% + $0.30 | Application, vetted | Cards, collectibles, almost everything | |
| eBay Live | Standard eBay ~13.6% | Invite-only beta | Collectibles and luxury | |
| TikTok Shop LIVE | ~6% | Shop signup + 1,000 followers | Partial (LIVE Studio) | Beauty, fashion, impulse buys |
| Amazon Live | Associates commissions | Influencer storefront | General retail creators | |
| Poshmark Posh Shows | 20% at $15+ | Open to sellers | Fashion resale | |
| Fanatics Live | 100% of hammer to seller | Vetted waitlist | 3 cameras required | Established card breakers |
| Palmstreet | Max 6.9% | Application | Plants, handmade, designer toys |
Whatnot is the default
The practical case is simple: Whatnot has the buyers, the broadest categories, and official OBS support so your gear investment actually shows on screen. The 8 percent commission stings compared to Palmstreet, but an audience you do not have to build yourself is what you are paying for.
The interesting challengers
- Fanatics Live pays sellers 100 percent of auction hammer price to lure breakers off Whatnot, but demands a vetted application and a three-camera compliance rig
- TikTok Shop LIVE has enormous reach and a roughly 6 percent fee, with the US ownership question settled in January 2026, but real OBS access is gated behind follower and sales thresholds
- eBay Live rides the trust of eBay itself for collectibles and luxury, still invite-only but widening
- Palmstreet is the a16z-backed indie undercutting everyone at 6.9 percent, phone-only for now, strongest in plants, handmade, and designer toys
Pick by what you sell
Cards and breaks: Whatnot first, Fanatics when you are established enough to pass their vetting. Fashion resale: Poshmark if you live there already, Whatnot if not. Beauty and impulse-priced goods: TikTok Shop. Plants and handmade: Palmstreet. Luxury and watches: eBay Live is worth the waitlist for the buyer trust alone.
Frequently asked
What is the best platform for live selling?
Whatnot, for most sellers: it has the largest buyer base, the broadest categories, and official OBS support. Specialists do better elsewhere: Fanatics Live for established card breakers, Poshmark for fashion resale, Palmstreet for plants and handmade.
Is Whatnot or eBay Live better for sellers?
Whatnot is open for applications and has a bigger live-shopping audience today; eBay Live is still an invite-only beta but carries eBay’s buyer trust for collectibles and luxury. Many sellers apply to both, since the same OBS rig works on each.
What happened to Flip?
Flip, the live-shopping app once valued over a billion dollars, shut down abruptly in August 2025. Its buyers largely moved to Whatnot and TikTok Shop.
