Our take on the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x
The Audio-Technica ATH-M50x is a closed-back studio headphone with no mic, a common choice for monitoring your stream audio. At a tracked $159 it sits at the top of its $127.20 to $159 range since June 2023, so a sale could save about $32.
It has 45 millimeter drivers, a circumaural design that isolates sound, and a detachable cable. Earcups swivel 90 degrees for one-ear monitoring. Impedance is 38 ohm. Because there is no mic, you need a separate mic for chat. Rated 4.7 across 33,897 retailer ratings, the biggest rating pool among the headphones here.

We do not lab-test hardware. Ratings and review counts come from the retailer listing and are labelled as such; stream-quality figures are conservative planning budgets from our published model. Prices are tracked at build time, not live, and were last refreshed 2026-10-22. How the numbers are derived: methodology. How picks are chosen: editorial policy.
