Our take on the Cloud Microphones Cloudlifter CL-2
The Cloud Microphones Cloudlifter CL-2 is a two-channel mic activator that adds up to 25dB of clean gain, for quiet dynamic or ribbon mics. It is not an interface or mixer. At a tracked $212 it sits at the bottom of a $212 to $246.51 range since August 9, 2026.
It runs on phantom power from your interface, and the listing says it does not send phantom power on to the mic. That makes it safe for passive ribbons. Place it between the mic and your preamp when the preamp strains. If your mic is a loud condenser or a USB mic, you do not need it. Retailer rating is 4.6 across 245 ratings.
