Our take on the Shure SM27

The Shure SM27 is a wired large-diaphragm cardioid condenser mic, for streamers who run an audio interface or mixer and want a studio style voice mic. It is a mic only, with no USB.

A 3-position low-frequency filter and a 15 dB pad help you tame boomy rooms and loud voices. Impedance is 150 ohm. The listing names audio interfaces, mixers and professional cameras as compatible devices. Retailers rate it 4.7 across 128 ratings. For a stream, it would sit on a stand or arm in front of you, feeding an interface and then OBS.

Pros
  • 3-position low-frequency filter
  • 15 dB pad for loud sources
  • Cardioid pickup aimed at your voice
Cons
  • Needs an interface or mixer to reach a PC
  • Only 128 retailer ratings
