Our take on the Sony ECM-B1M
The Sony ECM-B1M is a digital shotgun mic that mounts on Sony cameras with the Multi Interface Shoe. It suits camera-based streamers who want audio that stays in sync. At a tracked $338 it sits at the top of a $298 to $338 range since August 9, 2026, so wait for a dip.
It switches between super-directional, unidirectional and omnidirectional patterns, and a low-cut filter trims low rumble. The listing says no extra cables or batteries are needed because audio travels through the shoe. A wind screen is included. That digital link is the catch: it only works on cameras that have the Sony shoe. Retailer rating is 4.2 across 231 ratings.
- Three switchable pickup patterns
- No extra cable or battery needed
- Wind screen included
- Tracked at its high, $40 above its low
- Only works on cameras with the Sony shoe
