Our take on the Sony E 16-55mm f/2.8 G
The Sony E 16-55mm f/2.8 G is a compact APS-C standard zoom with a constant f/2.8 aperture, for streamers using a Sony crop body. At a tracked $1,698 it sits at the top of its $919 to $1,698 range from Aug 9 to Oct 19, 2026, so this is a clear wait-for-a-sale buy. The retailer score is 4.6 across 143 ratings.
It covers 24 to 82.5mm in full-frame terms and weighs 494g. The XD Linear Motor is listed for fast, quiet autofocus and tracking, which suits video, and a 9 blade circular aperture shapes the background blur. The price has nearly doubled between its low and high, so a $779 swing is on record. It fits Sony E mount mirrorless cameras and lists a video capture resolution of 1920 x 1080.
