Our take on the Sony FE 50mm F1.8
The Sony FE 50mm F1.8 is a compact prime lens for E-mount cameras, for streamers who want a soft background behind a face cam on a budget. At a tracked $248 it sits at the top of a $198 to $248 range from August 9 to October 1, 2026, so waiting for a lower price is reasonable.
The large f/1.8 aperture creates blurred backgrounds through a 7 blade circular aperture. It is compact and lightweight, and the listing says it suits full-frame E-mount bodies. It is a fixed focal length, so framing is changed by moving the camera. Retailer rating is 4.7 across 1,610 ratings, a strong sample.
