Our take on the Sony FE 20mm f/1.8 G
The Sony FE 20mm f/1.8 G is an ultra-wide prime for full-frame E mount cameras, for streamers who film vlogs or close face cam shots. At a tracked $998 it sits at the top of its $799.99 to $998 range from Aug 9 to Oct 19, 2026, so a sale could save nearly $200. The retailer score is 4.8 across 651 ratings.
The f/1.8 aperture helps in dim rooms, and two XD Linear motors drive autofocus. The listing calls it compact and light at 13.2 ounces, and says it suits both full-frame and APS-C cameras. Advanced aspherical elements are listed for sharpness. The wide 20mm view fits a lot of room into the frame, which helps when you film yourself at arm's length. Sony pitches it at videographers and vloggers.
