Our take on the Canon DM-E1D
The Canon DM-E1D is a stereo shotgun mic that clips onto the multi-function shoe of compatible EOS cameras. At a tracked $239 it sits at the bottom of a $239 to $239.99 range since August 9, 2026.
It links digitally to the camera, so there is no internal battery and no cable into the mic port. That also leaves the vari-angle screen free to move. Directional controls include a shotgun mode for audio in front of the camera and a stereo mode for wider ambience. It weighs 5.76 ounces. Fit is the deciding detail: only EOS cameras with the multi-function shoe will work. Retailer rating is 4.2 across 14 ratings.
