Our take on the Zhiyun Smooth 5S AI
The Zhiyun Smooth 5S AI is a 3-axis phone gimbal with a built-in light, for IRL streamers who walk with a phone and want steadier footage. At a tracked $135 it was flat across three points from August 25 to October 1, 2026.
The listing claims 26 hours of battery life and true 360 degree rotation without app limits. The built-in fill light helps when you stream at night. A gimbal does not replace the phone, so you still need a way to stream from the phone itself. It weighs 644 grams, which is heavy for hours of walking. With only 48 retailer ratings and a 4.1 average, feedback is limited.
- 3-axis stabilization for walking streams
- Built-in light with adjustable brightness
- Listing says 26 hours of battery life
- 644 grams gets tiring on long walks
- Only 48 retailer ratings at 4.1
- Price flat across three tracked points

We do not lab-test hardware. Ratings and review counts come from the retailer listing and are labelled as such; stream-quality figures are conservative planning budgets from our published model. Prices are tracked at build time, not live, and were last refreshed 2026-10-22. How the numbers are derived: methodology. How picks are chosen: editorial policy.
